Games Where You Can Become President: Four Different Experiences

Looking for a game where you can become president? The important question is what the title means after you win. Some games simulate one election. Others put you in office at the start of a story. In a persistent political MMO, other players must elect you, and they continue to live with your decisions.

This comparison is published by Leviathan War, so it is not an independent ranking. It focuses on the type of political play each game offers. Check the linked official game pages for their current rules and availability.

Game How you become president What you play afterward
Leviathan War Build a party position and win a vote from other citizens in your state. Govern a shared, persistent world with other players as workers, business owners, voters, and rivals.
eRepublik Reach its candidate requirements, receive a party president’s endorsement, and win a country election. Lead a country in an established citizen-based online world.
The Political Machine 2024 Campaign for the US presidency against AI or other players. The focus is the election campaign rather than an ongoing citizen economy after the vote.
Suzerain Begin as President Anton Rayne of fictional Sordland. Make narrative choices about policy, diplomacy, and crises in a single-player story.

What running for president looks like in Leviathan War

You start as one citizen, not as a country’s ruler. Find a state, work and train, join a political party, and learn who the other voters are. In a democracy, presidential candidates are party leaders or secretaries. You need 1,000 XP to be elected; voters need 500 XP and at least one day of residency in the state. A party must have existed for at least one day before the election, and at least three different eligible players must vote for a president to be elected. These are real players, so a title is never guaranteed.

Elections recur on a three-day cycle. A tribal state must first elect a congress, while a monarchy keeps its monarch as head of state instead of holding presidential elections. The elections guide explains the full rules and the state guide explains the different government types.

If elected, you can appoint ministers and help direct laws, taxes, and state relations. The role is social as much as strategic: factories need workers, companies need owners, and political plans need citizens willing to support them. The world keeps moving when you log off.

Leviathan War runs in a browser and is free to start. An account and email verification are required; Emerald purchases and Pro are optional. Activity varies by state, and there may be no open election when you join.

  • Choose Leviathan War if you want to earn influence in a shared world where economic work, parties, elections, and wars involve other players.
  • Choose eRepublik if you want another citizen-based political MMO with its own established election system. Its official election guide describes party endorsement and monthly presidential elections.
  • Choose The Political Machine 2024 if your main interest is running a US election campaign, including debates and primaries.
  • Choose Suzerain if you want to start in office and make story-driven governing decisions without campaigning against other human citizens.

If the shared-world route sounds appealing, read Your First Steps before joining. It shows how to work, train, and find other players. Then start playing Leviathan War.
