Blocs
A bloc is an alliance of states. Members enjoy an automatic relations bonus and can switch on shared policies (open borders and an open market) that make life inside the alliance far smoother. Manage everything from the Diplomacy page.
Founding a bloc
Section titled “Founding a bloc”Any state that owns at least 2 regions can found a bloc. The founding state becomes its first member (marked as the founder). A state can belong to only one bloc at a time.
Joining a bloc
Section titled “Joining a bloc”- A state’s president applies to join a bloc. A state can have only one pending application at a time.
- Admission is by vote of the current members: at least 90% of member states must vote in favor for the applicant to be admitted.
- Each member state gets one vote, cast by its president (or a minister granted the Manage Bloc power: see Cabinet).
- Voting against an applicant costs −10 relations with them (see Relations).
- Applications that aren’t resolved in time expire automatically.
Standing policies
Section titled “Standing policies”A bloc has two standing policies. Each member state sets its own stance (in favor / against), and a policy is active for the whole bloc whenever more than half of the members are in favor. The current tally is always visible in the bloc panel.
| Policy | Effect while active |
|---|---|
| Open Borders | Members may travel to each other’s regions as if they were residents: no residency or work permit needed. |
| Open Market | No trade or import tax on market purchases between member states. |
Because policies are re-tallied live, they can flip on or off as members change their stance or as the bloc gains and loses members.
Relations & blocs
Section titled “Relations & blocs”Membership in the same bloc adds +25 to relations between states. Relations affect travel and trade, not combat damage.
Leaving
Section titled “Leaving”A state can leave its bloc at any time (president / Manage-Bloc minister). Leaving immediately removes the same-bloc relation bonus and open-borders/market access. If the last member leaves, the bloc is dissolved.
